Glimpses of Sindhiyat - Rituals and Way Of Life

The Grand book release function of ‘Glimpses of Sindhiyat’ was held on June 23^rd 2012 in Bangalore at the Atria Hotel.

 

The invocation included a Sindhi song, the National Anthem and the lighting of the lamp.

 

The Chief Guest, His Excellency, Governor of Karnataka, Sri H.R. Bhardwaj, released the book with great fanfare.

He regaled the crowd with wonderful anecdotes associated with Sindhis. He said Sindhis had proved to be global leaders in a multitude of fields and praised our community as a whole for the respect we show our elders.

A memorable day for the Bangalore Ladies Chapter as we gave the world and our community another reason to be proud of our achievements! Glimpses of Sindhiyat – Rituals and Way of Life, a coffee table book documenting the traditions and rituals of Shikarpuri Sindhis was released after 18 months of hard work.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Suresh Keswani, who is the founder President of the Sindhi Council of India (SCI), spoke very highly of our efforts to promote Sindhi culture.

  Mr. Biharilal Menda, President, SCI, our mentor and guide also spoke highly about BLC and how much we have accomplished in the two years since our inception. He made special mention of Henna Kalro, who was instrumental in conceptualizing this book and seeing it to fruition.

Getting made-up by Estee Lauder!

BLC organized a session with leading cosmetics brand Estee Lauder. Our ladies were in for a real treat!

The session began with Estee Lauder explaining the importance of the skin care routine. The five-step method they recommend involves using their cleanser, toner, repair cream, moisturiser and finally the eye cream.

With live demos on day make up, night make up and on how to accentuate the eyes, the workshop was packed with information. Three lucky volunteers from the BLC audience were selected as models. Kanchan Kalro was the model for the subtle daytime look; Priyanka was the model for the dramatic night look while the eye make up was demonstrated on Manju Bajaj.

The session was interactive, with the make up experts answering all our queries patiently. The make up experts were kind enough to share secret techniques of applying foundation (the flower method). They made it fun while sharing with us the professional techniques of applying mascara – up to down, down to up and sideways, spell E- S-T-E-E and release the brush!

A special offer for BLC included a free gift with every purchase and we all also walked away with free sachets of moisturiser and eye cream! All in all, a couple of hours very well spent!
